Informer: Work on I-10 from bridge to PPG Drive to begin soon

Published 10:36 am Monday, March 5, 2012

Last year The Informer noted that the state Department of Transportation and Development said there would be work on the fencing and accompanying plant growth along Interstate 10 near the bridge on the west side at the Westlake exit in the fall (2011).

Is the work still to be done in association with the work being done on the bridge at this time? Or are there plans to do the work in the future?

“The scope of a patching, milling and overlay project on I-10 between PPG Drive and the Calcasieu River bridge includes the replacement of fencing and removal of vegetation along the fence areas,” Steve Jiles, the highway department’s regional head, wrote in an email.

“The project will be constructed by Prairie Construction Co. Work on the project is expected to begin by late March. The work was postponed from the fall of 2011 due to phasing conflicts with the I-10 Calcasieu River bridge repair project.”

No-call complaints go to FCC, PSC

What can be done about telemarketers who still call me even though I’m on the Do Not Call list?

Telephone customers beset by list-defying companies can submit complaints — depending on the list that’s been defied — to either the Federal Communications Commission or the state Public Service Commission.

The FCC can be reached at 888-225-5322 — 888-835-5322 for TTY — or by mail: Federal Communications Commission, Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, Consumer Inquiries and Complaints Division, 445 12th St., SW, Washington, DC 20554.

Written complaints should include your name and address; the soliciting company’s name and the phone number it called; details about the call; and information on any existing business relationship you have with the company.

The PSC accepts only written complaints. Call 877-676-0773 to order a form or visit the agency’s website — www.lpsc.org — to download one.

Additionally, consumers may be able to take legal action against telemarketers that disregard the no-call registries. For more information, consult an attorney.
