Beginning Thursday, Septs. 22, the DeQuincy Office of Motor Vehicles will resume its five-days-a-week schedule of operation, Motor Vehicle Commissioner Nick Gautreaux said in a news release.
Gautreaux said the office cut back to a three-day schedule after its long-time office manager passed away last year.
DeQuincy Mayor Lawrence Henagan said the office serves an area larger than just DeQuincy and he hopes the five-day week will be more convenient.
“It brings a lot of people into town that might not normally come,” Henagan said. “I’ve had people who live in Lake Charles tell me its faster to drive here than wait in line to do their business in Lake Charles.”
Henagan said he hopes the office will soon be able to offer extended hours. He would also like to see it offer license reinstatement services for people whose licenses have been suspended, he said.
