A 12-year-old Sweetlake boy was accidentally shot and killed by his cousin Tuesday, authorities said.

Wesley Quinn was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson said.

The shooting was “two boys in the house playing with guns,” he said.

Quinn was shot in the chest with a .22-caliber revolver, the sheriff said.

The Sheriff’s Office received the call at 6:18 p.m., Johnson said.

The investigation is ongoing, but Johnson said he does not plan to file charges.

The district attorney will have access to the report, he said.
